What to Do When You Need Vehicle Collision Repair and Services
Q: How does the claims process work?
A: First, you’ll contact your insurance company or the other driver’s insurance company. They will ask you to explain what happened. After recounting the collision or accident, ask them for a claim number. Bring your claim number with you when you visit our collision repair centers for an estimate. We’ll handle everything from that point on, including dealing with the insurance appraiser and getting you a rental car if you need one.
Q: Do you offer towing services?
A: Towing services are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including holidays through our friends at D&R Towing. You can reach them at 847-381-0770. If you need towing after hours, don’t worry – D&R Towing has its own facility and will store your vehicle there until the next day. You also don’t have to deal with the towing fee – all tow charges are billed to our team and we’ll collect them from your insurance company.
Q: Do you offer vehicle rental services?
A: Though our auto body shop in Barrington, Illinois we do not rent vehicles ourselves, we’re happy to make arrangements with Enterprise Car Rental, reachable at 847-382-9199 or 1-800-Rent-A-Car, who will meet you at our facility. When we’ve finished your vehicle collision repairs, you may pick up your vehicle and leave the rental with us.
If you have rental car coverage, Enterprise Car Rental should be able to set up direct billing with your insurance company unless your policy states otherwise. If you are a claimant, once the other person’s insurance company has accepted liability, you should be entitled to a rental vehicle (equivalent transportation) at their expense during your repairs. We can also make these arrangements for you.
Q: Do I need to get multiple estimates?
A: There is no law that requires you to secure more than one estimate from collision repair centers. It is the insurance company’s obligation to adjust your claim fairly. If you leave your vehicle with us, we will supervise the insurance appraiser and make sure they write a fair estimate that allows us to restore your vehicle back to its pre-accident condition.
Q: How soon can I leave my vehicle for it to be repaired?
A: We will provide you with the earliest vehicle collision repair appointment available. Unless your vehicle is un-drivable, you may be able to leave it immediately.
Q: How long will the repairs to my vehicle take?
A: Our team will give you a target date when you drop off your vehicle, then contact you shortly to confirm that date. We only do this after we’ve ordered any necessary parts, secured confirmation that said parts will arrive in a prompt manner, and called the insurance company to discuss any additional damages if necessary.
Q: How will I know when my vehicle is done?
A: We will contact you the moment your vehicle is ready for pickup at our body shop near Barrington, Illinois. Of course, you are always welcome to call or e-mail us during the repair process if you have any questions or concerns.
